George H: is a fantastic young man whose enthusiasm shines through in everything he does. Whether learning in the classroom or spending time with friends, he approaches the school day with energy, positivity, and a big smile. George is fully engaged in lessons and eager to answer questions and share ideas. Even when unsure, he confidently tries, making thoughtful connections – a great learning habit. Alongside his enthusiasm, he is always polite, kind, and considerate to everyone. It has been a pleasure teaching him for the second time, and watching his confidence and maturity grow has been wonderful.

Daisy: is a young lady whose phenomenal knowledge and passion for history continually impress. Her exceptional understanding of the Tudors, ability to place events on a timeline, and make thoughtful links to previous learning show a genuine love of the subject and dedication to research and reading at home. Her infectious enthusiasm reminds us all that a love of learning leads to extraordinary knowledge. Well done, Daisy - you should be very proud!

David: consistently shows exceptional care and attention in the presentation of his work across all subjects.  Just by looking through his books, you can immediately see the high quality of his work and how seriously he takes his learning.  He is always kind and polite.  While he enjoys having fun with his friends, he also knows exactly when it’s time to settle back down and focus after breaktimes. It has been wonderful to watch his confidence grow throughout Year 4.  In fact, he recently asked for a bigger role in our class assembly, which shows just how much he has progressed. He is a hardworking, thoughtful, and increasingly confident member of Class 4, and we are incredibly proud of him. Well done!

Edan: shares many of these wonderful qualities. He is a kind, polite, and thoughtful member of Class 4 who approaches school life with a consistently positive attitude. The exceptional care he gives to the layout and presentation of his work greatly supports his learning.  He organises his thoughts clearly and carefully, which helps him to make connections and retain knowledge.  Recently, we have been especially impressed by the depth of his understanding of grammar rules and his growing confidence in applying them within his own writing. He is a wonderful example of thoughtful, careful learning and a very deserving Star of the Week. Well done!

Emily: is a wonderful young lady who has settled smoothly into school life. She is kind, caring, and thoughtful, quickly becoming a valued member of our class. It has been special to watch her confidence and friendships grow, alongside her academic achievements. Recently, she has impressed us with detailed answers in lessons, confidently using ambitious, subject-specific vocabulary. In maths this week, she gave precise and well-reasoned explanations during problem-solving, showing how much her confidence has developed. We are very proud of all she has achieved. Well done!

Phoebe: has grown remarkably in confidence throughout her time in Class 4.  It has been a joy to see her become comfortable and confident, especially shining during our class assembly performance. While she may not always be the first to raise her hand, when she shares her ideas, they are always thoughtful and insightful. She works hard across subjects and has recently made great progress in writing, mastering grammar to produce clear and effective instructional sentences. She shows how confidence, perseverance, and hard work lead to success. Well done—we are all very proud of you!

Ellie: has impressed us all with her good humour, kindness, and calm, mature attitude during a challenging week in the heat. She has been a great support to her classmates and teachers, always ready with a smile and willing to help. She was a fantastic learning partner, encouraging and supporting her peers, which made a real difference. In poetry lessons, she used her enthusiasm for performance to help less confident students join in. What makes this recognition special is her incredible personal growth; she has shown how much she has matured and how resilient and thoughtful she has become. We are very proud of her. Well done!

Jude A: has consistently shown our Golden Rules all year round. He is a wonderful learning partner—kind, supportive, and always ready to help others do their best. His positive attitude and excellent manners make him a joy to teach. He approaches learning with enthusiasm and is always eager to challenge himself. One of the most impressive things this year has been his growing confidence. He now views mistakes and challenges as important steps in learning and faces them with resilience. We are very proud of all he has achieved and the mature, confident learner he has become.

Charlie: brings a lot of positivity and energy to the class every day. He has a big personality, a kind heart, and a contagious enthusiasm. Always supportive of his friends, he faces every challenge with a smile. Recently, as part of the Eco Committee, he represented our school on a trip where his excellent behaviour and positive attitude stood out. Whether attending team-building activities or helping with litter picking, he shows great energy and determination. His outstanding attitude was noticed by both our staff and others involved in the event. We are very proud of how he represents St Anne’s and the example he sets for everyone. Well done!

Joseph: is a kind, thoughtful, and caring member of Class 4. He consistently thinks of others and contributes positively to our school community. Gardening is a passion of his, and he eagerly helps care for our outdoor spaces. He shows patience, responsibility, and dedication as he plants and nurtures plants. What makes him even more special is the care he shows for those around him, always checking in with adults to see how they are and making sure they’re having a good day. These small acts of kindness show his wonderful character. We are very proud of his compassion, maturity, and positivity. Well done!

George: has made an incredibly positive return to school after the half-term break. Every adult who works with him has noticed the fantastic attitude and effort he has shown, and we are all very proud of the progress he is making. I have been especially impressed with his writing this week. He carefully designed his own detailed road map, including features like an airport and a pond, showing great creativity and imagination. He then used this map as inspiration for his writing, demonstrating growing control at the sentence level by including who, what, what doing, where, and when in each sentence. It has been wonderful to see his confidence developing. He is also working hard to improve his handwriting, taking pride in presenting his work neatly. Keep up the excellent effort—we are delighted to see you shine in the classroom!

Drew: has shown incredible determination and resilience in her learning. At the start of the year, she lacked confidence with her times timetables, but instead of giving up, she embraced the challenge and worked very hard to improve. She made her own notes, practised regularly at home, and often proudly shared the effort she has put in outside school. This positive attitude is exactly what helps children succeed. In Class 4, we regularly complete times table tests out of 25 to prepare for the Multiplication Check, and her progress has been remarkable. She is regularly scoring 22 out of 25. We are all incredibly proud of her achievement and the message she sends to others: hard work really does pay off. Well done!

Daisy P: we are delighted to celebrate a fantastic member of Class 4 for her determination, resilience, and positive attitude to learning.  Even though she hasn't been feeling 100% well recently, she has kept working hard, persevering and challenging herself every day — a truly admirable quality!  Over the year, she has made excellent progress in her writing.  Her handwriting is now much neater, with carefully formed letters the right size, and she writes with greater confidence and fluency.  It has also been wonderful to see her start to use the writing features she has been taught on her own, which has really improved the quality of her work. She has also shown great determination in improving her times table skills. She beat her best score last week with an incredible 23 out of 25! What a brilliant achievement — we are all so proud of her.

Billie: we are delighted to celebrate this wonderful young lady as our Star of the Week.  She brings a joyful energy and positivity to the classroom every day, making lessons brighter for everyone.  She is kind and thoughtful, always ready to help her friends when they need support.  Her contributions in class, especially in subjects like RE and PSHE, show her strong values and caring nature, inspiring those around her.  She listens carefully to advice and uses it to keep improving her learning. We feel very lucky to have her in Class 4.

Dana: is a fantastic role model who always tries her best and is eager to challenge herself. She approaches every lesson with focus and determination and sets a brilliant example for her classmates. One thing that stands out is how neat and well-organised her books are – they look amazing for her age! Dana has also been working hard on explaining her thinking more clearly, especially in maths. She is becoming confident in using the right words to describe her ideas and methods. We are so proud of her effort and maturity every day.

Grace: has been on quite a journey in her maths learning since Class 2.  Over the past two years, we have seen her confidence grow in Class 3, and now in Class 4, she is really consolidating her skills.  An excellent example is the improvement in recalling her times tables.  She has put in hard work, determination, and commitment both at home and school and she is now almost achieving full marks, scoring an amazing 24 out of 25 this week!  What a fantastic achievement.  Well done—we are all incredibly proud of her.

Eliza: is an absolute pleasure to teach every day.  She is always kind, considerate, and consistently follows our school rules, setting a wonderful example to everyone around her.  She works incredibly hard across all subjects, and no matter which book you pick up, her work is beautifully presented with great care and thought put into every lesson.  She is a fantastic learning partner and this week, in particular, has been very supportive and encouraging to her partner during lessons—even if she thought no one noticed!  Her positive attitude, hard work, and kindness make her a true role model for the class.  Well done—we are all so proud of her.

Laurel: is a pupil who has truly stood out for her kindness, enthusiasm, and dedication to learning.  First, her commitment to supporting her learning partner last week cannot go unmentioned.  She showed wonderful encouragement and endless patience, making sure that they both had a fantastic week and achieved some excellent learning outcomes together.  Secondly, her engagement on our recent school trip to Gainsborough Old Hall was outstanding.  She fully embraced the experience, showing great interest in what life was like in a Tudor hall, both for wealthy families and their staff.  From carefully sketching the building to enthusiastically taking part in dressing up and role-play activities, she threw herself into every moment.  She even made a point of telling Miss Broughton how much she had enjoyed the day.  Well done—you are a fantastic role model for Class 4!

Catherine: has made a fantastic start to the summer term, approaching every day with enthusiasm and determination.  As she prepares for the statutory times-table check, she has shown real resilience, tackling the facts she finds trickiest (such as 8x8) with a positive attitude.  She even had us all laughing with her clever and funny rhyme to help her remember it.  Her commitment to her learning shines through in everything she does, and she is truly a joy to teach.

Lewis: has truly earned his Star of the Week award.  He has shown great resilience in his routines, friendships, and embraced every part of school life with enthusiasm.  His willingness to learn has really stood out – he has approached challenges with determination and a positive attitude, showing that he is ready to grow and succeed. We are so proud of him and his confidence and commitment to his learning.

Ella: is a very deserving star who has made truly wonderful progress in her writing.  She has listened so carefully to all the advice given about her handwriting and has worked incredibly hard to improve it.  As a result of her dedication and effort, she has recently been awarded her pen licence – a fantastic achievement that she should be very proud of.  It has also become increasingly noticeable how skilled she is at accurate spelling, confidently applying many of the spelling rules we have been learning in class.  These are both such important skills to master, and she is showing great determination and commitment in developing them.  Well done – keep up the brilliant work!

Jude M: We would like to celebrate a fantastic example of determination and progress in transforming his handwriting.  He has been practising carefully and using highlighted lines to help him remember the correct size of his letters, making sure his ascenders and descenders sit exactly where they should.  His handwriting is neat, confident and truly beautiful. It just goes to show how practice, perseverance and self-belief can make a real difference.

Oliver:  has shown real courage and determination taking part in the school swimming gala.   Events like these can be quite overwhelming — there are lots of people, lots of noise, and a great deal of excitement — but he faced the challenge bravely.  Even though he felt nervous, he showed fantastic resilience and took part in his races with a positive attitude. We are incredibly proud of him for representing our school so well.  We have also been very impressed with his participation in maths recently.  He is growing in confidence, sharing his ideas more often, and clearly demonstrating his understanding.  It has been lovely to see how his contributions are not only helping his own learning but also supporting and encouraging his peers.

Felicity: is being awarded star for her incredible progress in writing. Since I last taught her in Year 2, the improvement she has made has been remarkable.  Her work is beautifully presented and carefully considered.  She quickly takes on board new learning, such as using conjunctions for effect, complex sentences and direct speech. Felicity confidently demonstrates these skills in her writing across all subjects and is also beginning to edit her work much more independently. We are extremely proud of her achievements.

Edan: is being awarded star for fantastic improvement in reading.  He has shown real determination and hard work, growing in confidence every day.  His reading is becoming more fluent, and his understanding of what he reads is developing really well.  This progress has been very noticeable, and we are all so proud of the effort he has put in.

Sophie: has grown enormously in confidence during her time in Class 4 and this has been especially clear in maths. In particular, her progress with times-tables has been fantastic — she now beams with pride as her hand shoots up to answer more and more questions in every lesson.  What is even more impressive is the way she explains her thinking, confidently sharing the reasons she knows the answers, even to more complex problems. Her enthusiasm for learning and willingness to challenge herself have made her a wonderful role model for others in the class.

Marcel: has shown a real love for maths this year, and approaches every lesson with focus and enthusiasm.  He listens carefully during input time and quickly picks up new learning, confidently applying it independently in his work.  Marcel impresses us all with his speed and accuracy when answering times-table questions, showing just how hard he has worked to improve. Alongside his academic success, he is also recognised for his kindness towards others, always playing nicely at breaktime and being a thoughtful, positive member of our class community.

George: This week, George has shown fantastic progress in his writing by confidently tackling some tricky new learning, including plural possessive apostrophes and complex sentences.  He not only understands the rules but is also happy to explain them clearly to others, showing real confidence and maturity in his learning.  When writing his narrative, he demonstrated an impressive ability to apply these skills accurately and effectively, using them to improve the quality and detail of his work.  His enthusiasm, focus, and willingness to challenge himself should make him very proud, and we are delighted to celebrate his achievement today.

Phoebe: has shown great determination while learning how to multiply two - and three-digit numbers by a single-digit number.  She approached each challenge with a positive attitude, persevering even when the learning became tricky.  Her work clearly demonstrates a strong understanding of the taught strategy, and she is applying it accurately and confidently in her calculations.  Her focus and resilience have really stood out, and it has been wonderful to see her confidence grow as a result of her hard work.

Daisy B: We would like to recognise Daisy as a wonderful member of our class, who has truly impressed us with her kind and caring nature.  She has been entrusted with looking after a new child in our class and has done an amazing job, showing patience, warmth and responsibility.  She has communicated clearly about our routines and expectations, helping her new classmate to feel safe and welcome at St Anne’s.  This is exactly the behaviour we hope to see from all our pupils, and others could certainly learn a thing or two from her.  

Alice: We would like to take a moment to recognise a pupil who has recently joined our class. We know that moving schools can be a big and sometimes challenging change, but we have been truly impressed by how confidently and positively she has adapted to life at St Anne’s.  She has already shown us that she shares the values we promote, especially kindness, becoming a wonderful addition to our class community.  We can see her personality beginning to shine as she settles in, and we are very excited to continue this journey with her.

Ellie: is Star of the Week because she is always listening carefully and shows how much she cares about her learning. This week, she has been instantly engaged in her poetry unit in English, even choosing to spend some of her free time writing a poem inspired by the legend of Beowulf with her friend. Ellie is consistently polite and caring, and she sets a wonderful example for others through her positive attitude and enthusiasm. Well done, Ellie — keep up the fantastic work!

Ella: can always be relied upon to be listening carefully and working hard in lessons.  She also makes the most of break times by having lots of fun with her friends!  As a result of her hard work and focus, Ella is making wonderful progress across all subjects.  Having said that, it is her writing I would like to celebrate today.  Throughout our learning in writing, we have consolidated some of the learning from Class 3 whilst learning new things.  Amongst other things, we have used narrative symbols to help us explore exciting vocabulary, learnt how to punctuate direct speech, explored fronted adverbials, learnt new spellings and had a huge focus on handwriting.  Ella has soaked up all the new learning and written a wonderful independent piece as part of the whole school assessment based on the 'Unexpected Guest' Sainsbury's Christmas advert.  Well done Ella, we are all very proud of you!

Emily: has fitted in seamlessly into school.  She should be immensely proud of the way she has learnt new routines, never appearing phased by new information or different ways of doing things.  She often points out when things are similar to her old school, but there are also many things we must do differently.  Emily has also been swift to slot into our topics, gaining new knowledge every day.  She is learning French for the first time, which she is thoroughly enjoying.  Well done Emily, we are delighted to have you in Class 4, and we have loved getting to know you!

Mia: has transformed her attitude to learning this week, which has made me feel extremely proud.  She has listened carefully, offered answers to questions when asked - across a variety of different subjects - and worked hard on her task during each lesson.  Her effort in our English writing lessons has been particularly noticeable.  I have been delighted to see her enthused about her writing, including all lesson objectives, sharing her writing with the class and feeling rightly proud of her achievements!

Julia: has made phenomenal progress in her handwriting this week.  She has been using highlighted paper to help her become more precise and consistent about the size and positioning of her writing.  Julia has really risen to the challenge and produced beautiful joined, cursive handwriting which she is now using in all subjects across the curriculum.

George: This young man has made wonderful progress in his reading and writing during his time in Class 4.  When writing, he has wonderful ideas and can order the words in a sentence once they have been written for him.  Just recently, he has grown in confidence when writing or typing words and can even spot when he has made a mistake – making his own corrections!  George reads each week and quickly becomes fluent.  He now remembers to use punctuation in the books to ensure his sentences flow.  George has a love of stories and will stop everything he is doing to come and listen.  Finally, it is important to note how kind and caring he is towards his teacher - he is a pleasure to teach!  Well done George, we are very proud of you!

Charlie: continues to make phenomenal progress in reading.  I would describe him as someone who has a love of reading.  Not only can he read fluently, but he also loves to read stories and find out interesting facts from non-fiction books.  His latest Star Reader assessment shows that he has the reading age of a 10-year-old - what a phenomenal achievement!  He has already begun to see some success in terms of his next challenge - writing.  We cannot wait to see how he transforms in this area as the weeks progress!  

Catherine: could be chosen to be star every week of the year!  Her behaviour, attitude to learning and her caring nature make her a wonderful member of the class.  She has the maturity to enquire after the well-being of her teachers and is a good friend to all.  Catherine takes her learning seriously and is always ready to learn.  She produces beautiful, thoughtful responses to tasks in every lesson across the curriculum - always trying her best.  What more could I ask for!

Daisy: has stood out this week for the way she has tried her best in every single area of the curriculum.  She has been enthusiastic in her learning and taken on board many new ideas.  Daisy has not given up when she has found things difficult.  In maths, we have been subtracting four-digit numbers with more than one exchange using the column method. This has proved tricky at times but she has not given up.  She has listened to advice and become much more accurate as the week has progressed.  Well done Daisy, you have worked very hard and have had a wonderful attitude to your learning.

David: has returned to school ready for his learning.  I have been impressed with his willingness to answer questions this week.  David has also caught my eye for his assessment work in science.  The children have been completing a task showing me what they can remember about our first unit of learning about teeth and the human digestive system.  His method of recording his learning, along with the details he provided, were fantastic.  Well done David!

Maks: has had a fantastic week this week.  On Tuesday at swimming he demonstrated outstanding knowledge about water safety when answering the swimming instructors questions.  He skillfully demonstrated his understanding when in the water too.  During PSHE Maks listened carefully and gave thoughtful responses during a lesson all about effective teamwork.  Again, the quality of his work during this lesson clearly demonstrated the depth of his understanding.

Eliza: has amazed me since the start of term in the area of writing.  During the first half term we have written newspaper reports and non-chronological reports.  No matter what the genre, Eliza skillfully weaves in our learning objective whilst still carefully considering the purposes of the writing and the needs of the reader.  Her personality shines through in her writing.  Eliza has shown her growth in this area by accepting verbal feedback and editing her writing to refine meaning.

Daisy B: has made an enormous amount of progress during her time at St Anne's school.  Not only has she become more confident socially, but she has also developed a love of learning which is truly wonderful to see.  Her levels of engagement for her classroom learning are nothing short of phenomenal.  She listens carefully and eagerly takes notes during many of our lessons, which she regularly refers back to on a weekly basis.  Today, I would like to celebrate Daisy's writing.  Her writing style, over the two genres we have covered, carefully considers the reader.  Her sentence choices are engaging, ensuring that they hook you in.  Her ideas are often 'magpied' by other children in the class or used to demonstrate how to use grammatical features such as fronted adverbials. The start of her non-chronological report about the digestive system demonstrates this beautifully.  Well done Daisy!

Grace: has grown in confidence since her time with me in class 2 which is wonderful to see.  She is not afraid to give anything a go, no matter what the subject.  She is comfortable to ask for help whenever she needs it, which ensures she is making good progress even in the subjects she is less confident in.  Her contributions in our English lessons are what has really made her stand out as star this week.  Whether we are reading or writing, she makes many wonderful suggestions.  She can orally craft sentences using whichever grammar feature we are learning and loves to discuss the meaning of new words and phrases.  Not only does this support her own learning, but it supports the learning of others, making her an extremely valuable member of the class!

Jude A: has a wonderful attitude to learning.  He quietly and considerately tries his best, which does not go unnoticed.  He is never distracted by those around him - taking his learning very seriously.  He listens carefully during lesson input and has some wonderfully creative ideas for his task.  I have also noticed that Jude has the most wonderful manners.  He is always polite and respectful making him a pleasure to teach.

Joseph -  has transformed in Class 3!  He is happy and self assured, finding a love of learning across his subject areas.  Mum and I could not be happier with this progress - he should be very proud!

Lilianna - has a willingness to contribute to discussions and her hand is now often up, which shows a growth in confidence.  When answering questions, she gives thoughtful and engaging responses, which help others to learn and hopefully will encourage more children to gain confidence to share their ideas and opinions.  What a super start to year 4.

Dana - has made a wonderful start to her time in Class 4.  She is working hard and challenging herself.  She conducts herself beautifully throughout the day, always polite and respectful.  She has set her sights on gaining her pen licence.  I remember her beautiful handwriting from Class 2, and I am delighted to see how it has developed during her time in Key Stage 2.  It has really impressed me to see how she uses her best handwriting in all of her books across the curriculum!  I do not think it will be long until she is knocking on Mrs Middleton's door for her pen licence!

Lewis - has developed a wonderfully mature attitude to learning.  He focuses well during lessons and can always be relied upon to make good choices.  As a result, he is making good progress with his learning.  He is happy to accept my feedback and tries hard to remember any improvements during future lessons.  Well done Lewis!

Billie - has demonstrated a love of learning this week, and set a superb example for the rest of the children in her class.  She knows how to have fun during her day, but is also determined to be the best she can be during learning time.  This week, in Key Stage 2, we have introduced jotters for the children to use to make notes.  Billie use of her jotter has been phenomenal.  It is neat and packed with useful information which she can return to in order to help her retain key facts.  What a fantastic start!

Drew - has embodied the value of generosity this week.  She has been extremely generous with her time in terms of how she has helped her learning partner.  Her patience has been boundless, which has really benefited those around her.  She has even managed to ensure that she has completed her own work to an extremely high standard too!  What a brilliant example she has set!
