Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of another fulfilling school year, I’d like to take this opportunity to reflect on all we have shared and achieved together as a school community this year.

Reading 206 reports illustrated that each and every child has taken another meaningful step on their learning journey – growing in knowledge, confidence, and compassion.  As we often say, each child is unique and progress can look different for each individual.

A special mention goes to our wonderful Reception children, who have completed their very first year of school!  It’s been a pleasure to see them settle into school life, form friendships, and develop a love for learning that we know will grow in the years ahead.  

As a school we have celebrated successes including being awarded the Quality Mark for PE, Platinum School Sports Award, Eco Award, RHS Gardening Levels 1,2,3, Finalists in the Nottinghamshire Schools Swimming, Winners of Division 3 Football as well as involving ourselves in a range of community events.  Most recently our Class 5’s have paired up with members of the ‘Wednesday Welcome Club’ as their final project in completing the Archbishop of York Young Leader.  Cross generational work is so important for our pupils.

  

  

Today we bid farewell to our Class 6 pupils – they have led the school with a mix of energy, personality, and just the right amount of sass!  This year particularly, they have each matured in readiness for their next stage of education and we wish them well. They attended the school disco on Friday and their parents also ensured they had a special celebration on Tuesday night.

This year marked a new chapter in the school’s history as 1^st July 2026 marked the beginning of a new chapter as St Anne's joined the MITRE Trust, a partnership built on shared Christian foundations.  Both St Anne's and MITRE believe that every child is uniquely created, deeply valued and full of God-given potential.  St Anne's vision to develop the whole child - spiritually, mentally and physically - in a caring Christian environment, encouraging children to love God, love learning and love themselves and others, sits naturally alongside MITRE's commitment to helping every child flourish and opening doors to fulfilling futures.

Our values complement one another beautifully with St Anne's seeking to nurture perseverance, responsibility, forgiveness, acceptance, honesty and respect as values to be lived out every day, whilst MITRE emphasises wisdom, kindness, integrity, collaboration and service.  Together these are not competing priorities but different expressions of the same Christian calling: to grow young people who know they are loved by God, who care for others with compassion and integrity, who work together in community, and who are equipped to make a positive difference in the world.  As we begin this journey together, we do so with confidence that our shared vision will strengthen the opportunities, care and flourishing of every child entrusted to us.

We congratulate Lichfield House, for the way in which they have pulled together and came out with the most team points this year. (That’s two years in a row!).  A lot of fun was had on ‘House Day’ with Lichfield visiting Rufford Mill, whilst York, Lincoln and Southwell took part in a range of activities back in school.

   

We also said a huge goodbye and thank you to Emma from Twist Gymnastics after 18 years of coming into school to teach gymnastics.  She has taught so many of our pupil’s core skills to enable them in the future.

A heartfelt thank you to all our parent and grandparent volunteers, who give their time so generously to support trips, reading, and activities in school.  To the Friends of St Anne’s group, to our dedicated governors, to the church team, and to every member of our incredible staff – thank you for your unwavering commitment and care. Together, you help make St Anne’s a place where children are nurtured, challenged, and cherished.

News from the Classes

Reception

What a fantastic final week the children have had in Reception. They thoroughly enjoyed taking part in House Team Day, with some children visiting Rufford Abbey while others had great fun participating in parachute games and a disco at school.  The children also shared in a special celebration of their year in Reception, reflecting on all they have learned and enjoyed.  It was lovely to hear them talk about their favourite memories and achievements, bringing back so many wonderful moments from throughout the year. The Reception Class Team would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to all of the children for a fantastic year filled with fun, learning and laughter.  We would also like to thank all of our parents and guardians for their continued support in helping us and your children throughout their learning journey.  We wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable summer break and look forward to hearing about your adventures in September.

Class One

This week, Class 1 visited Rev Dave and Millie at Church, where they took part in a carousel of exciting activities. The children worked in three groups and enjoyed learning about Baptism with Rev Dave, hearing a story about fairness with Millie, and exploring the church building with Miss DeCouto.  They were fascinated to discover how the church is used and loved spotting its special features, including a tiny hidden mouse carved into the woodwork!  In DT, the children designed, made and tasted their very own ice lollies. They enjoyed learning how to safely chop a variety of soft fruits and use a hand blender with Miss DeCouto. Of course, their favourite part was enjoying their treats during a very warm break time!

Class Two

In Class 2 this week, the children have been exploring position and direction in maths, and finishing writing their narratives on a day in the life of a meerkat.  The children have also enjoyed using the Ipads this week and looking at times tables on apps such as TTRockstars and Hit the Button.  It has been a lovely week looking through all the books and enjoying sharing the learning they have done this year with their friends.  The children had their last gymnastic session with Emma before the Summer holidays, exploring all the jumps, leaps and rolls they have done before as well as using the apparatus.  The children have also been spending time enjoying the last few days in Class 2 together by sharing their favourite memories and the things they are most proud of.

Class Three

This week has been a slightly different one in Class 3, as the children have been completing and celebrating all of their hard work from across the year.  It has been wonderful to reflect on everything they have achieved and to enjoy some well-deserved end-of-term activities together.  In English, the children completed their independent narrative writing, producing exciting stories based on a tsunami.  They demonstrated the fantastic progress they have made this year by using ambitious vocabulary, descriptive language and well-structured plots to engage their readers. In RE, Class 3 drew upon everything they have learned throughout the year to reflect on inspirational people from different religions.  The children discussed key figures such as Moses, Jesus and the Prophet Muhammad, considering the qualities that made them inspirational and the impact they have had on the lives of believers.  The class have also enjoyed some creative and relaxing end-of-term activities, including board games and craft sessions, which provided a wonderful opportunity to work collaboratively, be creative and celebrate a fantastic year together.  During Swimming, the children focused on water safety, learning important skills and knowledge to help them stay safe in and around water, both at swimming pools and in open water.  As another school year comes to an end, we would like to thank all of Class 3 for their hard work, kindness and enthusiasm throughout the year.  It has been a pleasure to watch them grow in confidence, independence and resilience.  We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday, and we wish all of our wonderful Class 3 children every success as they begin their exciting journey into Class 4!

Class Four

It is hard to believe that another school year has come to an end!  The final week has been a busy one, with the children completing their end-of-year assessments and demonstrating just how much progress they have made since September.  They have all worked incredibly hard throughout the year and should be extremely proud of everything they have achieved.

This year has been especially memorable for Miss Broughton, who has had the privilege of teaching many of the children for a second time. Watching them continue to grow in confidence, resilience and maturity has been a real pleasure, making this year even more special.

On Thursday afternoon, the class enjoyed a well-deserved opportunity to relax together by watching a film.  To celebrate the children's hard work and achievements throughout the year, Miss Broughton treated everyone to ice cream with sauce and sprinkles – the perfect way to end a fantastic year together.

Class Five

What an amazing year it has been for Class 5! They have learnt lots of new pieces of information, improved so many skills, worked hard and most importantly, been the best that they can be.  I’m so excited to be teaching them in Class 6 as well and know that they all have a bright future ahead of them next year. I can’t wait to see what they achieve.  Congratulations to you all on your new roles for Class 6; I know you will set such a fantastic example for the rest of the school to follow.  Huge congratulations to our Ambassadors, George and Elsa!   We have welcomed a new friend to school in the last few weeks, but today marks the end of an era as we say goodbye to two incredible members of our class.  Lily and Christina, we will all miss you but know that you will show all of your new classmates what amazing people you both are.  We wish you all the luck in the world.  Have a wonderful summer holiday everyone, stay safe and we will see you back in September, in Y6!

Class Six

As another fantastic year draws to a close, we are incredibly proud of our Class 6 pupils and all they have achieved.  They have worked exceptionally hard throughout the year, culminating in a brilliant SATs week where their determination, resilience and positive attitudes truly shone.  Every child has made progress in their learning and should be proud of how far they have come, both academically and personally.  This year has been filled with unforgettable experiences and wonderful memories.  Our PGL residential challenged us to step out of our comfort zones, build confidence and work together as a team, while our Whitby trip provided exciting opportunities to explore, learn and enjoy time together outside the classroom. These shared adventures have created friendships and memories that will last for years to come.  In the classroom, the children immersed themselves in a range of fascinating topics. They explored the events and impact of World War II, uncovered the mysteries of the Ancient Maya civilisation, and discovered the diverse landscapes, cultures and features of North America. Their curiosity, enthusiasm and thoughtful discussions brought each topic to life. There were many highlights throughout the year, including our DT cooking day, which was full of creativity, teamwork and, of course, plenty of delicious food! It was wonderful to see the children applying their skills and enjoying learning in such a hands-on way. Most importantly, Class 6 have been an absolute pleasure to teach.  Their kindness, humour, perseverance and willingness to embrace every opportunity have made this year truly special.  As they prepare to begin their next chapter at secondary school, we know they leave us with the skills, confidence and determination to succeed.  We wish each and every one of them the very best for the future.  Although they are moving on, they will always remain an important part of our school family, and we will cherish the many happy memories we have shared together. Good luck, Class 6!

Lord, as we end this school year, we thank You for Your steadfast love and the blessings You have poured over our children.  Watch over every family through the holidays, keeping them safe, rested, and held in Your peace.  We lift our Class 6 pupils to You with pride and hope — guide their steps, steady their hearts, and surround them with Your light as they begin all that comes next. Amen.

As we bid farewell to Colin, Lilly and Christina who are moving to schools out of Worksop, we welcome Kenton, Olivia and Kunashe into our school family.
