Spring Term Learning
Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely relaxing Christmas break. We are very excited to be starting the Spring Term with our new topic...Ancient Greece!
In this term, the children will discover the lasting influence of the Ancient Greeks on the western world. Investigate the timeline and four main periods of the Greek Empire. Explore different kinds of historical sources and evaluate their usefulness. Marvel at Alexander the Great and the empire under his leadership. Learn about trading and design, research lifestyle and clothing, and study key Ancient Greek buildings. Find out about the historical background of Aesop and his fables. Research democracy and examine the exciting Olympics and its modern legacy.
What are forces? From gravity to air resistance, or water bouyancy to friction, year 5 will be investigating the forces which act upon objects. The childen will be able to identify the different types of forces as well as develop an understanding of unbalanced and balanced forces and their effects. Children will complete a range of experiments to Investigate how mechanisms, like levers, pulleys and gears.
If you would like any additional support with home learning please let me know. Please support your child with their home learning as much as possible.
Lesson will take place on a Tuesday and Thursday so please ensure that a named PE kit is in school for these days.
