Reception trip to the Butterfly House - 2013

It may have been tropical inside the Butterfly House, but the hail outside made it look decidedly wintery! Nevertheless, Class Reception had a very enjoyable day at the Butterfly House.

They had a talk about mini beasts which gave the children the opportunity to hold a gaint snail and, for the very brave, a very large beetle! Mrs Pert was very popular with the butterflies and had one crawling on her.

They saw many pond creatures when they went pond dipping such as tadpoles, water beetles, newts and dragonfly lava and listened to a talk about their lifecycles.  The children had remembered a lot from our mini beast topic and were very good at answering all the questions.  Well done Reception.

The adventurers managed to dodge the showers to see the many of other animals with the Meer Cats being the favourite.

Thank you so much to everyone who gave their up their time to join us on the day.
An enjoyable day was had by all the children, parents and staff.
