Welcome to Class 4
Your teachers are Mrs Askwith and Mrs Arnold, and your TA is Mrs Sprigg.
Hello and welcome back to the Summer Term in Class 4 at St Anne’s!
Mrs Askwith and Mrs Arnold are really excited about teaching everyone in Class 4 this term. We can't wait to introduce you all to the exciting things we have planned:
Our summer-time topic is “FLOW!”
In this topic we will explore rivers in the UK and around the world, investigate river systems and learn to use key river vocabulary accurately and appropriately.
Our work will also cover The Water Cycle and how water is stored, cleaned and used by human beings. We will wade in our local stream and "fish" in the school's pond to find out what kind of water beasties lurk below the rippling water's surface - have your wellies at the ready so you can make a splash!
We will study some of the plant life that lives in or along the banks of our rivers.
We will visit Severn Trent's Waste Water Treatment, Education Centre - Derby, to learn how and why waste water must be cleaned before being allowed to flow back into our river systems.
Our English will be based around the book 'The Wind in the Willows' by Kenneth Grahame. If you would like to listen to the story, follow this link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b03g6tm6
In Science we will be cultivating our knowledge of "Plants" and nurturing it with a bloom of technical vocabulary linked to the understanding of a plant's life cycle.
It's "Swimming Term" too (Wednesday mornings)... Good luck with achieving new badges everyone!
